United Nations Global Road Safety Week – Bridgestone Reiterates Its Commitment to Road Safety
In line with the goals of the United Nations Organization to raise awareness about the global road safety problem, and in accordance with the European Union’s objective to halve the number of road accidents by 2010, Bridgestone will offer free safety checks in 1,500 local offices and tyre retailers throughout Europe during the first United Nations Global Road Safety Week (April 23 to 29) and for the European Road Safety Day (April 27). Bridgestone’s initiative is an extension of the “Think Before You Drive” campaign that was launched in 2005 in collaboration with FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile). Designed to help reduce road deaths, estimated at 1.2 million a year globally, Bridgestone carried out more than 20,300 safety checks in 19 countries throughout Europe in 2006.
