Target under fire over political donations and GLBT rights

Several US newspapers and blogs comment on current protests against Target over its recent political donation to a Republican politician known to be critical of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender rights.

The Human Rights Campaign has asked that the US retailer contribute an equal amount to candidates who support gay-friendly causes. On Monday the company said it will not respond positively to this demand for the time being. There have been protests outside Target stores. On Facebook a Boycott Target page has more than 60’000 fans; there’s also an anti-boycott page with 18’000 fans.
