PepsiCo, Kohl’s Among Cos. Honored for Green Power Purchases

071101_usepa.jpgThe U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Monday honored 17 companies that combined buy nearly 4 billion kilowatt hours of green power each year. The Green Power Purchasing Leaders already are Green Power Partners that commit to buying renewable power such as solar, wind, geothermal, biomass, biogas and low-impact hydro. The EPA selected seven Green Power Partners of the Year. They are Whole Foods Market, Wells Fargo and Co. , Staples, PepsiCo, Mohawk Fine Paper, Johnson and Johnson, and the City of Bellingham, Wash. The EPA honored Timberland Co., Macy’s Inc.’s West Division and the City of Chico, Calif., for on-site generation. Kohl’s Department Stores, PepsiAmericas Inc., Pepsi Bottling Group Inc., Pepsi Bottling Ventures, New York University, Starbucks and Sloan Valve Co. were named Green Power Purchase Leaders.
