Business turns water-smart

070403_ccwateraus.gifBig business is doing its bit to reduce water consumption, according to the latest figures from the Queensland Water Commission. (…) Ms Bligh and Premier Peter Beattie toured the Coca Cola Amatil plant at Richlands this morning to inspect some of the company’s water saving initiatives. Describing Coca Cola’s 14 per cent reduction in five years as a success story, Ms Bligh said the government would now shift its focus to small and medium sized businesses. “What is clear from the water savings weve seen in large companies like Coca Cola is that particularly large water users are really doing their bit. “The next level of effort under Level 5 [water restrictions] will be for businesses using a lower level of water…to now have mandatory water efficiency plans.” Image source: savewater.com.au
