BASF<\/strong> appeared among the most praised companies last week as it announced the development of a new process to systematically review and evaluate the sustainability aspects of the approximately 50,000 relevant product applications in the company\u2019s portfolio. French groups Renault<\/strong> and Bollor\u00e9<\/strong> are joining forces to promote electric vehicles through industrial cooperation, the founding of a joint-venture to sell complete electric car-sharing solutions in France and Europe, and the development and production by Renault of a new urban electric vehicle with a 20 kWh lithium metal polymer (LMP) battery. Equitable Origin (EO) announced the world\u2019s first certification of socially and environmentally responsible oil production sites, Quifa and Rubiales in Colombia, owned by Pacific Rubiales Energy Corp<\/strong>. Honda<\/strong> communicated that two power-producing wind turbines at Honda Transmission Manufacturing of America are producing more renewable, low emissions electrical power than was anticipated when the towers went into operation in January in this year.<\/p>\n

Petrobras<\/strong> was among the most criticized companies last week, as a jailed former executive of the Brazilian state-controlled oil giant has reported about alleged kickbacks paid to dozens of politicians by construction firms that were awarded contracts with Petrobras between 2004 and 2012. Mexico’s National Human Rights Commission filed a complaint against Grupo Mexico<\/strong> for polluting Bacanuchi and Sonora rivers with 1.4 million cubic feet of acidic copper sulfide. Deutsche Lufthansa<\/strong> pilots held a third strike within two weeks, seeking to increase the pressure in negotiations over an early retirement scheme. Keller Rohrback L.L.P. is currently investigating a reported data breach at Home Depot<\/strong> that the company allegedly failed to detect in late April or early May of this year, regarding data on more than 40 million payment cards.
