GlaxoSmithKline has been the most criticized company last week, as some of its executives in China confessed to “bribery and tax violations”. Microsoft also received substantial negative coverage after The Guardian revealed the company “has collaborated closely with U.S. intelligence services to allow users’ communications to be intercepted”.<\/p>\n

On the positive side, The Coca-Cola Company was able to maintain a strong media presence by announcing an enlarged partnership with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), including new 2020 environmental sustainability goals for the Coca-Cola system (the company and its 300 bottling partners worldwide). French oil company Total has been acquitted by a French court in Iraq oil-for-food corruption case, several sources reported.<\/p>\n

The most praised<\/strong> companies last week were: The Coca-Cola Company, General Motors, Ford Motor Co., Total SA, and Carrefour SA.<\/p>\n

And the most criticized<\/strong> were: GlaxoSmithKline plc, Tokyo Electric Power Co. Inc., Target Corp., Apple Inc., and Microsoft Corporation.<\/p>\n

Last week these criteria groups gathered more negative news than positives: Labor<\/strong> (Employment, Trade Unions, Health and Safety, Diversity and Equal Opportunity), Society <\/strong>(Social Compliance, Competition, Corruption), and Product<\/strong> (Product Compliance, Product Safety, Customer Privacy).<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Governance<\/strong> (Commitments to External Initiatives),\u00c2\u00a0Environment<\/strong> (Environmental Compliance, Energy, Emissions, Environmental Impact of Transport), and Economic<\/strong> (Infrastructures, Indirect Economic Impacts, Pricing \/ Needs, Social Sponsorship) registered majorities of positive news.<\/p>\n
