It is expected that  the Anglo-Dutch oil company will receive a 30 million dollar fine. Shell has been charged with the large-scale bribery of Nigerian  customs officials in order get equipment faster into the country and to  secure deals. The payments were made through the logistics service  Panalpina. Many companies, including Panalpina, claim that corruption is  a normal and inevitable part of doing business in countries like  Nigeria. Shell is planning to leave Nigeria and sell its shares in the  countries\u2019 four major oilfields. Environmentalists believe the intended  departure is bad news for the Nigerian population. Although  environmental activists regard the multi-national as the \u2018enemy\u2019, it is  easier for them to negotiate with Shell than with the corrupt Nigerian  government.
