An A321 using IAE engines will fly between Hamburg and Frankfurt using a 50-50 bio-fuel\/conventional fuel blend. The daily flights will begin in April 2011 and will continue for at  least six months while the impact of the fuel on aircraft performance is  monitored. \u201cWe see great opportunities in the use of bio-synthetic kerosene, but  we are first gathering experience with it in daily practice,\u201d said  Wolfgang Mayrhuber, Lufthansa CEO. \u201cIndeed, Lufthansa is the world\u2019s first airline to utilise biofuel in  flight operations.
