This Friday\u2019s release of New Line Cinema\u2019s <em><span style=\"color: black\">The Golden Compass,<\/span><\/em> a fantasy adventure film starring <strong><span style=\"color: black\">Nicole Kidman <\/span><\/strong>and <strong><span style=\"color: black\">Daniel Craig,<\/span><\/strong> forges a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.plentymag.com\/blog-mt1\/www.worldwildlife.org\/goldencompass\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;very organic partnership&#8221; <\/a>with the WWF. New Line\u2019s efforts with the WWF seek to peak awareness about the impact of global warming on animals and inspire audiences to action. Based on the 1996 book by Philip Pullman from his trilogy for young adults<strong>, <\/strong><strong><em><span style=\"color: black; font-weight: normal\">His<\/span><\/em><\/strong><strong> <\/strong><em><span style=\"color: black\">Dark Materials,<strong> <\/strong><\/span><\/em>the distopian movie follows an orphan on a quest in an alternate universe, where a political\/religious dictatorship threatens the world and people manifest animal spirits who talk (with voices from <strong>Ian McKellen, Ian McShane, <\/strong>and <strong>Kathy Bates<\/strong>), and wear armor (if only it were so easy to fend off melting polar caps). Meanwhile, the movie attracted attacks from the Catholic League, which published a warning pamphlet with accusations of an atheist agenda.
