At the annual CIES World Food Business Summit in <\/span><\/span><st1:city><st1:place><span class=\"normal\"><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: Arial\" lang=\"EN-GB\">Shanghai<\/span><\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:city><span class=\"normal\"><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: Arial\" lang=\"EN-GB\">, chairman Roger Corbett, ex Woolworths Australia <\/span><\/span><st1:stockticker><span class=\"normal\"><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: Arial\" lang=\"EN-GB\">CEO<\/span><\/span><\/st1:stockticker><span class=\"normal\"><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: Arial\" lang=\"EN-GB\">, said member retailers had unanimously agreed to the drafting of a Global Social Compliance Program. \u201cWe retailers and consumer brands are increasingly sourcing from emerging markets \u2014 <\/span><\/span><st1:country-region><st1:place><span class=\"normal\"><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: Arial\" lang=\"EN-GB\">China<\/span><\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region><span class=\"normal\"><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: Arial\" lang=\"EN-GB\"> being the largest in the world,\u201d Corbett told the record 840 delegates at this year\u2019s summit. \u201cWhile bringing to our customers a diversity, quality and price they expect, we as global players have a responsibility to ensure that the trade is fair.\u201d Member companies of the CIES include international giants Wal-Mart of the <\/span><\/span><st1:country-region><st1:place><span class=\"normal\"><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: Arial\" lang=\"EN-GB\">US<\/span><\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region><span class=\"normal\"><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: Arial\" lang=\"EN-GB\">, Metro of <\/span><\/span><st1:country-region><st1:place><span class=\"normal\"><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: Arial\" lang=\"EN-GB\">Germany<\/span><\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region><span class=\"normal\"><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: Arial\" lang=\"EN-GB\">, Ahold of Holland and Carrefour of France. Woolworths Australia, Franklins and Metcash are also members, with delegates attending this week\u2019s conference. Coles Group is a notable Australian absentee.
