(&#8230;) A group of more than 20 large fund managers with responsibility for more than $55bn is demanding that companies \u2014 which traditionally keep their political spending secret \u2014 disclose all political donations, have them approved by the board and crack down on secret \u00c2\u00adpolitical spending by trade associations. The campaign will intensify in the next few weeks when the season of annual investors\u2019 meetings gets under way. Managers involved include New York City\u2019s $41bn pension fund, the Teamsters\u2019 union \u00c2\u00adpension fund and Calvert, Walden and Trillium. Forty-two companies \u2014 including blue-chips such as AT&amp;T, Boeing and Citigroup \u2014 will face shareholder votes on resolutions calling for greater transparency on donations this year, according to Institutional Shareholder Services.
